TAAG Receives In Luanda Its First Airbus A220-300 Aircraft

As part of its 2024-2029 strategic plan and fleet expansion program, TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola said it has received the first A220-300 aircraft from its order list with the manufacturer Airbus. The aircraft presentation ceremony took place at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, Angola, attended by  guests from the aviation industry and diplomatic community, as well as partners and corporate customers.

The airline said that, as part of the fleet renewal process, based on a multi-brand strategy, this is the first time in its 86-year history that the Company has introduced Airbus, incorporating the A220-300 aircraft on a leasing basis  from Air Lease Corporation to ensure domestic and intra-African connections.

The reinforcement of the TAAG fleet is evidence of the Company’s modernization and growth path, which will now have a more versatile fleet and greater availability of aircraft to meet the growing demand of passengers and customers, the airline stated.

The TAAG Airbus A220-300 configuration has a total capacity of 137 passengers, with 12 in business class and 125 in economy class. It is a modern and extremely efficient aircraft, with fuel consumption savings of around 25%, low noise pollution and reduced emissions of harmful gases into the environment, compared to the previous generation of aircraft.

The airline said that TAAG customers and passengers will benefit from an improved flight experience, a high level of comfort and cabin space, as well as 28m³ of total cargo volume.

TAAG also revealed that valorization of local content, the arrival of the A220-300 will provide career progression opportunities for Angolan flight staff, as well as the acquisition of know-how to carry out maintenance of equipment in Angola.

The A220-300 aircraft also has the distinction of being the first to incorporate TAAG’s new visual identity, preserving its Angolan character and reinforcing the visibility of the Palanca on the tail of the aircraft and wings.

TAAG now has 22 passenger aircraft: eight Boeing 777s, seven Boeing 737-700s, six Dash-8 Q400s and now an Airbus A220-300.
