The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority is encouraging drones operators in Ghana to register with the GCAA

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has highlighted the importance of proper regulation and operation of recreational and commercial drones, underlining the increased benefit of drones in the economy.

“Modern-day drones are increasingly playing a pivotal role in the aviation industry,” the GCAA stated.

The GCAA has drawn attention to processes and requirements for acceptable use of drones in Ghana, “as part of measures to regulate the usage of drones for recreational and commercial purposes.”

“At the Ghana Civil #Aviation Authority, safety and security are at the top of our priority list. And as part of measures to promote the safe usage of #drones in #Ghana, we encourage all current and prospective drone users to take notice of these important directives.”

The GCAA emphasises the importance of drone users obtaining operating permits from the GCAA before operating their drones in Ghana. This comes amidst concerns among drone enthusiasts and users over drones in use prior to the regulations.

Tse Ernest, an Airworthiness Engineer, asked in a tweet: “Please how do you handle drone users who are not registered. I guess so many photo/video creators owned droned before the regulation was put in place and so many are still ignorant on its existence. Also, are there any provisions against intrusion of privacy?”
