Zambia Airways has commenced scheduled commercial flight services between Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, on June 27, 2024. The new flights, conducted with the Boeing 737-700, has caused excitement and anticipation in both countries, as the flight services will improve connectivity for air travellers and facilitate, trade and tourism.
According to Zambia’s Acting Minister of Transport and Logistics Hon. Gary Gaali Nkombo, MP, the launch of the flight services marks a significant milestone in the nation’s aviation history, as he expressed his delight to be part of this special moment.
During the inaugural flight ceremonies in Dar-es-Salaam, Hon. Nkombo, who is Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said that, with the addition of the new route, Government is not only enhancing its airline’s expansion program, but also reinforcing its commitment to providing a world-class service to the passengers. He said the commencement of services on this new route represents the dreams, aspirations, and hard work of countless individuals who have dedicated themselves to the aviation industry.
He further noted that the commencement of flight services on this new route will allow Zambia to connect more cities to the growing network and strengthen the regional aviation presence hence facilitating business and trade, promote tourism, and allow citizens to travel between the two countries with ease. Hon. Nkombo reiterated that the special occassion is not just about the commencement of services on the new route but about the spirit of progress, resilience, and dedication that defines the two nations. “It is a testament to the longstanding warm relations between our two countries, and the trust of our passengers,” he said.
The Minister noted that the commencement of services on the route not only signifies the airline’s growth but also showcases the commitment to sustainability. He said the airline is investing in more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft to reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future. He said that the occasion should serve as a symbol of the commitment to excellence and the unwavering determination to soar to new heights.
“And I commend our airline for adapting to these challenges with unwavering determination. As we move forward, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew while providing efficient and comfortable travel experiences,” he said.
